MDR1 Testing in Herding Breeds
Herding breeds include collies, border collies, Shetland sheepdogs, Australian shepherds and several others. All of them, especially the Aussies, can carry the gene called MDR1. The MDR1 gene causes increased susceptibility to side effects from some commonly used drugs. If your dog is all or part herding dog he or she should be tested!
