IVDD (Slipped Discs)
IVDD, or“slipped disc” is a common problem in dogs and an occasional problem in cats. Some breeds of dogs are very prone to it, especially in the lower backs of those with long backs and short legs, like dachshunds. Poodles are especially prone to slipped discs in the neck. Symptoms can range from mild lower back pain to complete paralysis. In severe cases, surgery must be done within 24 hours if the dog is going to regain use of the legs.
